This Seemingly Unassuming Beach Rock May Actually Be A 100,000-Year-Old Fossil!

fossils uncovered in water

History is all around us. It’s even right under our feet!

These underwater formations in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina may appear to the untrained eye to just be rocks. But one expert believes it’s possible that they’re fossils dating back over 100,000 years.

These fossils exist all over the ocean floor. Close to shore, they’re often under sand, making them a bit tougher to find. At deeper depths, fish find their homes in the crevices of the formation.

While it may not look like much, it’s fascinating the way that history pops up in our everyday life. What looks like a rock might be so, so much more!
