When cops arrived at a home in Hillsborough County, Florida, several adults were standing in the yard of a home that was engulfed with flames.
Screams for help rang out as the officers raced toward the house. It seemed that almost everyone was out of the house… except for a child.
“There’s a kid inside!” a woman screamed as the cops were shown where the 9-year-old’s bedroom was located.
Officers broke the bedroom window as quickly as possible, prompting thick smoke to escape the building. Through it all, though, these heroic first responders used a flashlight to locate the child. As soon as he was within reach, they scooped him up and brought him outside. There, the officers stayed with him until an ambulance arrived to take him and his mom to the Tampa General Hospital.
“I could not be more proud of the quick actions and bravery these deputies displayed, never giving up until they were able to pull the child to safety,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “It is because of their heroism that this young boy made it out alive.”
