When you’re going for the job of your dreams, sometimes you’ve just got to put your pride aside and just go for it.
Singer Chris James of Norfolk, England, decided to do just that during his audition for “The Voice U.K.” Chris, an audiobook narrator who’s ready to break out of his garage band and go solo, chose a song that literally no one has ever sung on the show before, and the judges were completely stunned.

As soon as Chris burst onto the stage, he started belting out “Prince Ali” from the Disney movie, “Aladdin.” That’s right; he chose a show tune, and the judges could not believe their ears.

Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am kept looking around, expecting someone to tell them they were being pranked! The only judge who seemed kind of into it was Olly Murs, who started to bop along to the music – once the shock wore off.

As Chris continued with his unconventional song choice, it quickly became apparent to anyone with a working set of ears that this guy was actually really good. His voice was smooth, and he hit every note with ease.
Plus, his mastery of the stage could not be overlooked. At one point, he started doing a can-can style one-man kick line!

Move over, Rockettes; this guy is the total package!
His mixture of showmanship and talent are truly impressive. You’d never know it from looking at him, either. With his long locks and dark T-shirt and jeans, he looks like he’d choose to sing death metal over Disney.

By the time Chris was finishing the song, the audience was on their feet, clapping and cheering for him. You can practically feel the energy he created. “That was brave!” Jennifer exclaimed.
Tom Jones admitted that he wished he’d turned his chair around because Chris was clearly very talented. “You have a voice; you have a very powerful voice with a range,” he said. We can’t wait to see what other surprises Chris has in store for viewers during the season!
