Fans of Freaky Friday rejoice: there’s a sequel on the way, and most of the original cast is planning to return for the next installment of the beloved film! Disney Studios recently shared an adorable video of stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reuniting for a promo shoot. In the first film, the two women played Tess and Anna Coleman, a mother and daughter who wake up in each other’s bodies. According to the post, we can expect to see Freaky Friday 2 in theaters next year.

Anyone who grew up watching the 2003 version of this hilarious family comedy will be thrilled to see Lohan and Curtis together again. These two co-stars looked like they were having the best time during their photoshoot! They even posed in front of each other’s trailer doors in a subtle nod to the body-switch plotline of the first film.
“The band’s back together and coming to theaters in 2025,” wrote Disney Studios in their caption.
According to People, Anna Coleman will be all grown up in the Freaky Friday sequel. We’ll see her attempt to figure out her relationships with her own daughter as well as her partner’s daughter. And, of course, some type of body-swapping shenanigans will likely ensue!
As for the other characters, you’ll be happy to know the magazine confirmed that many of our favorites will be returning to the screen. These include bad boy heartthrob Jake, played by Chad Michael Murray, and Tess’s husband Ryan, played by Mark Harmon. We’ll also see the return of Anna’s bandmates, Maddie and Peg, portrayed respectively by Christina Vidal Mitchell and Haley Hudson.

Many fans are over the moon after hearing the news that Freaky Friday is getting a sequel after all these years. Social media users got very excited in the comments section of Disney Studios’ clip featuring Curtis and Lohan.
