There are certain films you watch growing up that simply stick with you well into adulthood. For a lot of us, myself included, this includes Freaky Friday — that’s why so many folks are thrilled over the news of a sequel! For years, co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan have addressed rumors of a return, but now it’s official!
News first broke during Lohan’s recent interview with Andy Cohen Live on SirusXM. Although the star can’t reveal if the script is done or when filming begins, this confirmation has fans celebrating! Plus, they’re thanking Curtis for how much she’s pushed for a sequel all these years. In fact, she’s gone out of her way to contact her connections at Disney to make this happen!
“As I went around the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday,” Curtis recalls. “Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.'”

It’s been 21 years since the original premiered, and Lohan has a kid of her own now. Plus, she’s close to Curtis’ age during the original. These factors are sure to make the plot of the sequel all the more fun! Whatever direction they go with, though, we can’t wait — neither can the stars of the movie!
“And we’re both excited,” Lohan shares. “I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”
