Nick Jonas Jumps Onstage For Impromptu Duet With 16-Yr-Old “Voice” Contestant.

Tate Brusa of Salt Lake City, Utah, is a 16-year-old musician who decided to take a shot at fame by competing on “The Voice.”

With his family cheering him on backstage, Tate headed out to perform Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” in his blind audition, and the result was pretty incredible!

Judges Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Nick Jonas soaked in the teen’s gorgeous voice. Before Tate even finished, Shelton and Jonas had eagerly turned their chairs around to offer to be Tate’s coach.

That’s when things got really interesting! The two judges went head-to-head trying to convince Tate that they were the right person for him. Clarkson and Legend obviously had opinions on the matter and encouraged the teen to go with Jonas.

As much as their endorsements helped, Jonas didn’t let them speak for him. Instead, he got personal, explaining that he understands what it’s like to perform at a young age. Then he went onstage to give Tate some real-time coaching!

The two of them discussed posture, and Jonas taught him how to project his voice further by using vowel sounds. Jonas even went the extra mile by demonstrating what it looks like and having Tate try it out.

Once again, Tate blew everyone out of the water. He effortlessly applied Jonas’ instructions and somehow came away better than before!

At this point, Jonas seemed to be the obvious winner. After all, what could Shelton do to convince Tate to jump ship and join his team?

We’re not quite sure how, but right when everything seemed decided, Shelton brought out an adorable puppy. Once everyone had fallen thoroughly in love with the pup, Shelton delivered an ultimatum: If Tate didn’t choose this master manipulator as his coach, the dog would have to back to the shelter.

Despite Shelton’s evil genius (which was all in good fun), Tate joined team Jonas. How could he not when he’s already learned so much!

What a talented teen! We’re so excited to watch how he does in the rest of the competition.
