Residents at Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir (SARA) don’t just receive great care from staff members – they also take care of each other! It works out great for Tam, a blind rescue dog who suffers from increased sensitivity and arthritis due to his Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. When Tam needs a little comfort, he’s got tons of feline friends in the shelter who are more than happy to give him a rub-down. According to SARA staff, resident cats take turns giving the dog massages!
“Tam regularly shares his bed with at least two cats,” said volunteer Hazel Skeet, according to The Dodo.
The Farm Refuge, part of the larger SARA organization, is home to both stray cats and sick or elderly dogs.
“To be honest, it is quite difficult for anyone to sit down at the Farm Refuge without being immediately surrounded by cats,” said Hazel. “But Tam is the most popular dog. The cats know he will lie quietly and be gentle with them.”
