Stray Dog Shows Up At Farm & Has No Idea “He Won The Lottery”

A stray dog walking around on a farm.

When this stray dog first found himself on a stranger’s farm, he had no way of knowing he’d just wandered into the most loving home. Mark Farmer (yes, that’s his name!) was heartbroken when he saw the starving pooch walking around the property. His own dog, Luna, immediately rushed over to greet the newcomer. However, her enthusiasm may have proved a bit much for the stray, who ran off.

Mark was determined to help the emaciated canine. He followed the stray dog around the farm with food and water until the hungry pup finally worked up the courage to dig in. The farmer shared some footage of the frightened animal on social media.

“He won the lottery he just doesn’t know it yet,” he wrote in his caption.

In an update, Mark revealed that he eventually got the animal to come inside the house. There, he rewarded the pooch with more food. Before he could give the stray dog a permanent home on the farm, though, he needed to know more about what kind of shape he was in. So, he took him to the vet for a check-up. As he had guessed, the dog was severely underweight. He was also suffering from parasites.

“We found out it wasn’t going to be easy, but I knew I couldn’t turn my back on this pup,” said Mark.

After just three weeks of living on the farm, this stray dog was starting to look much better. Not only had he put on a little weight, but he’d also been learning to make himself at home. Mark’s footage shows the dog playing, napping, and hanging out with the other pets as though he’d always lived there!

According to Today, the farmer decided to name the new pup Roman. He explained that this was a clever play on words, since he’d discovered the stray dog “roaming around on my farm.” Mark is happy to report that, so far, that the pooch is having no trouble fitting in with the other critters on the property.

“He has done so well with all of my other animals,” he said. “I have footage of him interacting with my baby goats, sniffing them through the fence and just acting totally fine.”

We’re so glad this lucky pup stumbled upon such a wonderful new home!
