Special Needs Duck Walks Slowly But Her Feathered Friends Never Leave Her Behind.

A two-photo collage. The first shows a duck standing in a field. Text reads “Henrietta” and there’s an arrow going from the name to the duck, indicating that’s her name. The second photo shows two ducks standing next to each other. Text on the screen reads “Cleo is a special needs duck who needs to stay off her feet as much as possible.”

Animals can be pretty unpredictable — Annette Calarco, who has 28 cats, three ducks, and a rabbit, understands this well. Still, there are some things she can always rely on, like her ducks quacking as they make their way home after a day at the pond. This lets her know it’s time to meet them halfway so she can carry Cleo, her special needs duck, the rest of the way. At least she thought she could count on them to keep up this routine.

Lately, Cleo, Henrietta, and Gertrude have stayed quiet as they approach Annette’s home. She captured one of those moments in a video shared on TikTok, and folks can’t get enough of how much these three care about one another. While walking with Cleo, the other two ducks are sure to slow down so she isn’t left behind.

Then, as soon as Annette picks her up, Henrietta and Gertrude take off running. They’re so fast, in fact, that their human mom has trouble keeping up with them sometimes. Best of all, Annette later noticed that they are very strategic in the way they walk home.

“I didn’t realise until watching the video back later that they placed Cleo in between them when they were walking home, even though she walks so much slower than them!” Annette wrote. “I love ducks!”

Watch Cleo, Gertrude, and Henrietta come home after a long day in the video below.

I didn't realise until watching the video back later that they placed Cleo in between them when they were walking home, even though she walks so much slower than them! I love ducks!
