Edwin Lee Smalley is the ultimate dad. He is a man’s man who enjoys fixing cars and sharing his life wisdom with his son. He also loves a great “dad joke,” so maybe take everything he says with a grain of salt. Or maybe grab the container of salt because you’ll need more than a grain. Above all, remember to laugh at his unique and humorous take on life as he explains to his son what it’s like being married.

Obviously, Edwin determined that the easiest way to explain what it’s like being married was by example when he looked up and told his son, “Why don’t you just leave me alone?” Walking away confused, his son muttered, “Geez, okay. Sorry.” Without giving his son time to process what was happening, Edwin forcefully said, “Hey,” getting his son to turn back toward him as he added, “Don’t ignore me.”
Although the son may not have picked up on the lesson right away, most of his audience did. In another viral video on TikTok, this no-nonsense dad (or should that be all-nonsense?) informs his son that he is not ready for marriage.
Using his patented style, the dad lays out a simple fact: Until you can say you’re sorry for no reason at all, you’re not ready. The delivery is rough and gruff and offered with no elaboration. However, the message tells the tale of what it’s like being married. Sometimes, you have to be the one to say you’re sorry.
This dad delivers his messages with a comedic flair. Just because the delivery makes you laugh doesn’t mean the message lacks merit. The message is that communication between a husband and wife can be confusing.
