The tragic flood that destroyed the foothills in Texas, including Camp Mystic, is something our country will never forget. When the Guadeloupe River crested and began to flood, 750 campers and staff did their best to escape. Tragically, dozens perished in the flood that ravaged the Christian girls’ camp. Survivors relied on their faith in God to help them get through one of the most difficult times in their lives. Survivor Skyler Derrington is just 12 years old, but she used her gift of song to share a powerful message about God and Camp Mystic. She performed a rendition of Mystic Hallelujah on Fox & Friends that touched the hearts of viewers.

Skyler Derrington Chose Faith Over Fear At Camp Mystic
Skyler Derrington sang as powerful images of Camp Mystic played in the background.
“On July the 4th, 2025th, the water rose and we went adrift, “she sang.
Skyler continued, and as she sang, her lyrics professed her faith.
“Our faith was strong, you showed us love, like only God from up above. Your prayers, your hugs, and your love overwhelmed us.”
Fox & Friends shared the performance on Facebook, and thousands watched as Skyler Derrington sang.
“I’m in tears! So beautiful and meaningful! Bless this child and all those who have been touched by the tragedy of flood,” someone wrote.
“Praise God for this beautiful tribute to her fellow campers and people who are now with Jesus Christ in heaven,” another person prayed. “Help all of us to continue to keep them in our prayers. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah to the LORD.”
When she finished, Lauren Daigle made a special appearance to surprise Skyler.
“The whole interview with her parents, her singing the beautiful song, & the surprise visit from her favorite singer, Lauren Daigle, was just the best,” a comment reads. “What a wonderful tribute to those who were lost, and all the rescuers & volunteers who gave of themselves. The song has such healing words for her & others. God has great plans for Skylar.”
