Watching Sir Rod Stewart perform live is more than just a singer and a microphone. He brings an energy, athleticism, and spirit that many men half his age can’t equal. When he began to feel ill while performing in the summer of 2026, both Rod and his wife, Penny Lancaster, knew that something was wrong. The “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” singer went to the doctor for an upper respiratory infection. That appointment led to an unexpected diagnosis. Penny shared with “At Home with Vanessa” that Rod Stewart recently underwent a coronary stent procedure due to a heart issue.

“He’s great. He’s really good. He’d gone through a couple of incidents where he had an upper respiratory infection, and then he was at a concert where there was very high altitude, so it would affect anybody. But what we didn’t know was there was an underlying heart issue,” Penny explained.
Sir Rod Stewart’s Heart is Now in Tip-Top Shape
As his wife told Vanessa, Sir Rod Stewart has stayed active for decades on stage and needs a good, strong heart to keep up.
”I mean, he’s like one of the fittest guys I know. Forget being fit for 80-odd. He’s fit for someone my age in their 50s, but fortunately it was at the right time, at the right place, and they detected a slight blockage which needed a stent,” she said.
Fans adored hearing Penny Lancaster speak about Rod Stewart and thanked her for the update on his heart health.
“penny has found her true love and rod appreciates her every single hour, let alone day! A truly gorgeous genuine lady who loves not only her family but is kind to all she interacts with. understanding and loving,” a fan shared.
“Penny Lancaster is a star act,” another person agreed. “Just blessed with wisdom and humour in abundance. Start your own podcast Penny you have much to offer!”
Hopefully Rod will be back on stage soon, delivering a show like no one else can.
