The “Got Talent” franchise is used to phenomenal acts. Still, every once in a while a performer (or performers) come along and blow everyone away.
Ireland’s Got Talent contestants Sharon and Brandon did just that during the audition phase of the show. The mother and son duo left the crowd in awe of their singing abilities – but the story of what brought them to the stage had everyone reaching for a box of tissues.
When they first stepped on stage, Sharon and Brandon amazed the crowd and judges when they revealed they were a mother/son duo. Sharon said that the two of them have been singing together essentially since Brandon could talk.
When a judge asked the duo if the song they selected was important to them for any reason, Sharon revealed that they selected it based on a near-death experience Brandon had been through.
Sharon described the situation no mother should ever have to go through. She received a call that her son was being transported to the hospital due to multiple seizures. Then, when she arrived at the hospital, doctors prepared her for the worst and told her to say her goodbyes. She said she spent her time holding his hand and singing to him, begging for him to wake up.
Miraculously, Brandon pulled through. He told judges that just being able to stand on stage beside his mom made him a winner.
As if the background story wasn’t enough to make everyone love them, Sharon and Brandon displayed some serious talent as they sang a beautiful song filled with love and dedication.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
After they wrapped up, Sharon and Brandon received a (well-deserved) standing ovation from the audience and all four judges. Once the roar of the crowd died down, the judges sat to give their feedback, but before they could even speak, the show’s host, Lucy Kennedy, appeared and hit the golden buzzer – meaning they will be moving on to the final rounds in the competition.
The crowd, once again, went wild – and Brandon and Sharon couldn’t contain their excitement as they embraced and cried on stage.
Judge Louis Walsh told the duo that fans would “fall in love” with them this season – and we could not agree more!
