Sometimes fate has a funny way of intervening at just the right time. When it does, moments that were initially terrifying can become life-changing and inspiring.
Shannon Vivar experienced this one day while she was driving with her mom and 3-year-old son. As she passed through an intersection, she collided with another car that ran a red light.

In a video captured by the Phoenix Police Department, it seems like a normal night for Gabrielle Burns and her fiancée Ulysses Betancourt. The pedestrians are stopped at an intersection waiting for the light to change. When it does, they start crossing the street, pushing their 11-month-old son ahead of them in a stroller.
That’s when things go south. A Jeep runs the red light, heading straight toward the family in the crosswalk.
Thankfully, Shannon was passing through the intersection at the same time. She didn’t see the Jeep coming, which caused the two vehicles to collide seconds before the suspected drunk driver would have hit Gabrielle and Ulysses. And amazingly enough, everyone came out of the accident okay!

Although it was a frightening experience, Shannon said she’s grateful that it happened because it enabled her to save lives. But she doesn’t believe she’s a hero. She just happened to be in the “wrong place at the wrong time, which turned out to be the right place at the right time.”
Of course, not everyone agreed with her hero assessment! When Caravana in Tempe, Arizona saw the footage, they decided to help her out by replacing her severely damaged car with a new 2018 Chevy Cruz!

They even hid free Disneyland tickets inside as an extra surprise, much to the delight of Shannon’s 3-year-old!
