“Seeing How Many Fake Treats I Can Give My Cat Before She Notices”

Image shows a woman feeding her cat fake treats.

Almost everyone loves harmless pranks. The prankee isn’t so keen all the time, but everyone else gets a laugh or two. Prankster Lillian Olney “sits on nothing” to prank park visitors. This silly hair stylist pranked her clients by using an oversized carnival prize comb to fine-tune their styles. Pranks can be funny when the prankees are human, but what happens when you try to prank your pet? One cat owner decided to see how many fake treats she could feed her cat before she noticed.

On the first invisible treat, you hear the cat’s jaw close on nothing and watch as the cat chews. She licks her chops and waits patiently for the second invisible treat. She didn’t quite grab that one right and had to go back to her Mom’s fingers. With the invisible treat firmly in her mouth, she chews, then sits back looking satisfied.

The third, fourth, and fifth invisible treats are gobbled up with hardly a thought. Cat Mom Ash pans over to her other cat, a cute tortie. That cat is almost thinking loud enough to be heard. “What fresh mess is going on over there?” It’s obvious the tortie has the brain cell and the grey tabby does not.

The grey cat is steadily munching away on those invisible treats. She is putting some effort into chewing and swallowing, and keeps coming back for more. Six, seven, and eight are offered and taken before Ash gives up. The cat never did notice she was being pranked.

Don’t Worry, The Cats Get More Than Fake Treats

Some fans commented that Ash was being mean with the fake treats. They wanted to make sure the kitties weren’t missing out. Ash assured them that both cats receive an adequate amount of REAL treats. She made a follow-up video to prove it. Notice that the tortie is getting real treats too.

Another family pranked their cat by mounting a paper cutout of an orange tabby’s head in the window. While it wouldn’t have fooled (most) humans, it fooled the family cat. The cat was so intent on getting rid of the “intruder” that it jumped against the glass, lunging at the paper cat.

Pranks can be fun, but please, prank responsibly. Pranks should be funny, not mean, cruel, or hurt anyone or any animal.

Please share.
