See Something, Say Something: Woman Calls The Police When She Spots Something Terrifying In Gas Station

A two-photo collage. The first shows the outside of a women's bathroom in an Exxon gas station. There's a strange device at the top of the door. The second image shows a fire marshal's truck at a distance. Two men stand outside the truck, one is a fire marshal.

When you notice that something is off, speaking up can save lives. That was certainly the case for a woman named Shelby. Recently, she visited an Exxon gas station in Texas. It seems that, while she was here, she planned to use their restroom. But those plans quickly changed when something about the women’s restroom stood out. Looking closer, she realized she had uncovered something terrifying: an odd lock on the gas station’s bathroom door.

In the hallway with bathrooms, there were a number of doors. They are marked as follows: Men, Women, Employees Only, and Private. Each door looks relatively the same. However, a strange device was latched onto the outside of the women’s door. Learn more in the video below. Note, a woman named Heather edited Shelby’s own clips together to make this single, cohesive video.

@nochillheather thank you @𝕊𝕙𝕖𝕝𝕓𝕪 🦋 for bringing this to light. Regardless of what it is, it should never have been on this door. Mighty thankful the police were ON IT & taking it serious 🙏🏻🫡 Anywho stay safe out there everyone but mostly the girlies. 🙂‍↔️💓✨ #sextraffickingawareness #womensafetytips #womensafety #gasstationstorytime #exxon #fypシ ♬ original sound – Heather 🧚🏼‍♂️

According to a number of people who have responded to Shelby’s story, this lock truly is terrifying. Not only was it placed in a way that made it accessible to those outside the restroom, but it can also be controlled remotely.

At first, Shelby says a police officer told her that their hands “are tied” and that they couldn’t tell the business where they can have their locks located. Thankfully, however, a fire marshal was able to take action, presumably because a lock like this goes against safety codes. Needless to say, folks from Texas and beyond are grateful to Shelby for speaking up.

“This is how change happens. If you see something, say something,” someone shares in the comments, with another adding, “I’ll be more observant from now on. This is indeed not okay.”

“I truly believe you just saved a lot women’s lives,” a third person writes, “because every single one of them that saw this will forever look for something like that.”
