Ryleigh Livengood is just 8 years old, but her kindness has already inspired thousands.

When the little girl sees an opportunity to help, she doesn’t hesitate to jump in. She says it’s just the right thing to do. Tiffany Livengood couldn’t be more proud of her daughter’s heart of gold, which recently moved Walmart employee CJ Hart to tears.

On June 12, Tiffany and Ryleigh went on a grocery run to a Walmart in Oxford, North Carolina. As they were leaving, Ryleigh noticed carts were scattered all over the parking lot, and CJ was outside collecting them. This didn’t sit right with her. So, she and her mom spent the next 30 minutes pushing carts back into the store with him.
“She looked at me and asked if she could help,” Tiffany wrote on Facebook. “She wanted to help him because, ‘That’s what we are supposed to do. We are supposed to be kind.'”

The pair saw it as a small favor, but neither had any idea how much the gesture meant to CJ. Later that night, he recounted the experience in a Facebook post, hoping he’d get the chance to thank Ryleigh.

CJ didn’t have to wait long. The next day, the mother and daughter returned to the store. On her way in, Ryleigh spotted another cart and brought it inside, where she saw her new friend again. She perused the toy aisle for a few minutes until CJ approached and handed her a card.

Tucked inside was a $20 bill along with the message, “Your hard work meant a lot to me. I don’t know you but you’re an angel.” The card now sits atop Ryleigh’s dresser as a reminder to always be kind. Her mom hopes this story will spark more good deeds as well.
“I challenge everyone, to be kind today to someone,” Tiffany wrote. “Do a random act of kindness, just because.”
