By now, we know that you can’t really trust everything you see online. As much as we might wish that the direct messages we receive on social media from our favorite stars and celebrities were real, they most likely aren’t. Sadly, we live in a world where scammers work diligently every day, taking advantage of others. Thankfully, many famous people do their best to advocate for themselves and their fans so that no one falls victim. Rosanne Cash, the daughter of the late Johnny Cash has had enough of people pretending to be her, and she took to Instagram to help others stay safe.

Rosanne Cash Shared An Important Message With Her Fans
Rosanne Cash didn’t mince words and made sure her fans knew the truth. She captioned her post, “Ugh. Yikes. WTF. What a world.”
“Someone has created an AI-generated image of me, hacked into my official Facebook account, and is using that image to ask for money,” she wrote. “My FB page is monitored by my management to post news and tour dates. I don’t even know how to access it. If you come across this before we get it removed, please ignore. This is very disconcerting. And I don’t think I have that many wrinkles anyway.”
Sadly, Rosanne Cash’s experience appears to be common.
“I also got hacked a few months ago. What a hassle – sorry you have to deal with this,” a fan shared.
Others fear there is more of this to come.
“This is only going to get worse unfortunately. We all have to be diligent when on social media to look out for this crap. Ugg,” one wrote.
This person agreed, writing, “The new world we live in .Truly terrible. Scammers are also at work on Artists asking them to make NFT’s for the scammer to sell. They then charge the artist for making the NFT and disappear. I have had 5 such attempts, fell for it the first time.”
As one Rosanne Cash fan so eloquently put it, “Nothing is sacred anymore.”
