Dolly Parton lost Carl Dean, her husband of nearly 60 years, in March of this year. It was a difficult time for Dolly as she’d known Carl since she was 18. The pair were extremely close, despite Dolly’s preference for the spotlight and Carl’s inclination to stay in the shadows. She understands how hard loss can be for a family, and she sent out some words of wisdom to another big star. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dolly Parton let Kelly Clarkson know she is thinking about her amid the difficult loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstone.

Dolly Parton Reminded Kelly Clarkson To Care For Herself
Dolly Parton wanted Kelly Clarkson to know that even during times of grief, it’s important to take the good from the person you’ve lost and invest it back into yourself.
“I think you just have to be grateful for the years that you’ve had with someone and you just try to remember the very best of all that,” Dolly said. “Take their energy that they have given you … and kinda just recycle that and let that become a part of you.”
Kelly Clarkson shared that she would be postponing the remainder of her August Las Vegas residency dates to care for her children because their father was ill.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote on Instagram. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Brandon Blackstock passed away the next day. Though Kelly Clarkson has not commented publicly since Brandon’s death, we’re sure she feels the love from Dolly Parton and her millions of fans.
