Little Girl Who Vows To Hug Cop In Every State Gets Adorable Surprise.

For some people, just getting by each day is not enough; some people are driven to “be a light in the world.”

At just eight years-old, Rosalyn Baldwin is one of those people who feels called to bring a message of unity, love, and respect to as many people as possible. After witnessing deadly police shootings across the nation, including those in Dallas, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Rosalyn told her parents that she wanted to show all of the law enforcement officials who work hard to keep the public safe that she is grateful to them.

Specifically, Rosalyn wanted to give those hardworking police officers a hug — and not just the officers who work in her hometown, but all of the officers in the entire United States. That’s when Rosalyn and her mom, Angie Baldwin, came up with plan to spread the love and hugs across all fifty states.

“We talked about it and we kind of explained to her that this is society, that this is the way things happen, but she said, ‘No, they need to know I love them,’”said Angie.

Rosalyn now travels around the country, meeting with local police departments and doling out love, hugs, and stickers to the gratified officers. “I feel love, and I just love it,” Rosalyn explained. “I feel a big heart bouncing against me.”

The sweet little girl has already traveled to 26 U.S. states, and can’t wait to hit the last 24 to meet her goal. “It feels awesome,” she says simply. “And I just feel so free.”

On Rosalyn’s website, her mission is clearly stated:

“Rosalyn’s mission is to journey throughout the country as a beacon of light, love, and hope.  She wishes to unite communities by demonstrating her sincere love and appreciation, for those who have committed their lives to serving and protecting the people of our nation.”

The police officers who meet with Rosalyn walk away knowing that someone appreciates them, and cares deeply about their safety and well-being.

Denver Sheriff Patrick Firman was moved by his meeting with Rosalyn, stating, “To have somebody come in and share love like Rosalyn does and just reassure people that there are people out there praying for us and that there are people out there thinking about us in positive ways, means the world to the staff.”

The officers at the stations she’s visited do their best to make the visit special for the child, too. Rosalyn, who hopes to become a veteranarian when she grows up, got a very special surprise at the Denver police station: a meeting with one of their K9 officers!

What Rosalyn really wants people to remember is that law enforcement is on our side, fighting for our freedoms each day on the front lines of homeland crime. All she wants is for people to remember their dedication to our safetly, and to maybe think of praying for their safety, too.

“I ask God to let the police officers be safe and fight the bad guys off and send them to jail.”

What an incredible child, so full of light and love! We should all strive to be as loving and as gracious as Rosalyn.
