Rescuers Free Tangled Mama Whale And Reunite Her With Her Baby.

A tangled mama whale has been set free.

A humpback whale found herself trapped in some fishing gear in the waters off Cape Ann last weekend. Her 8-month-old calf was swimming nearby. Thankfully, a group of mariners spotted the distraught mother whale and called for help. According to WCVB, a Marine Animal Entanglement Response team from the Center for Coastal Studies was soon on its way.

It took hours for the rescuers to free the animal and make sure she was ok. Unfortunately, some of the gear was stuck inside the whale’s mouth, but the team was able to extract it. Throughout the release, the baby humpback remained nearby, even nursing a few times. Finally, mother and child were able to swim free!
