Boy Translates “Reckless Love” Into Sign Language & His Passion Is Chill-Worthy.

Would somebody get this kid a contract, already? Or at least a meeting with Cory Asbury?

If we’ve ever seen a performance artist in the making, it’s young Jairus, who stars in the video below. He put his talents on full display last month, during a breathtaking performance of the Christian/gospel singer’s recent hit, “Reckless Love.” But he wanted to make sure everyone understood the lyrics, even the deaf and hearing impaired, so instead of just lip syncing, he added American Sign Language to the performance, and the video’s gone insanely viral!

Like the song, Jairus starts out slow, gaining momentum as the beat picks up.

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me…

Giphy

Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me

His passion hasn’t quite peaked by the time the chorus kicks in, but he’s definitely getting more animated, and we’re at the edge of our seats because the crescendo’s coming up any minute now…

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine…

Giphy

I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah

Sure enough, Jairus picks up more and more steam as the song moved into the second verse and chorus, and by the time it hits the bridge, he’s so animated he may as well be doing an interpretive dance! Look at him go!

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me…

Giphy

There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me…

People familiar with American Sign Language have pointed out that his signing isn’t a precise interpretation of the lyrics, but the message he’s sending is clear enough, especially with those passionate facial expressions and body language.

We don’t know where this whole thing took place, but we wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to see Jairus on an even bigger stage next time around, possibly in front of thousands of cheering fans.

Check out the whole thing in the video below, and share to spread amazement that this kid already shows so much promise!
