“Do as I say, not as I do,” is a popular phrase, but it’s one that certainly doesn’t apply to Rebekah Bastian’s dad. Growing up, he taught Rebekah to follow her passions and to blaze her own trail rather than follow what others think is “the right path” – something he did himself by becoming a world-renowned astrophysicist.
Now, at 77 years old, he’s learning how to ice skate, all while battling stage 4 prostate cancer. Despite the obstacles he’s faced, with a few years of practice, he’s become quite the professional! Proud of what her dad has accomplished, Rebekah shared one of his performances on Twitter, where it garnered over 600,000 views in 24 hours!
Thanks to her dad’s positive influence, Rebekah has gone on to become a successful author and founder of her own platform, OwnTrail. She’s paying that kindness forward by sharing his words and his actions to inspire countless people across the world. Who knew ice skating could be so impactful?!
