Proud Mama: Reba McEntire Celebrates Son’s Birthday With Sweet Post & Rare Photo

Reba McEntire and her son, Shelby Blackstock, pose in a silly way for a photo. Reba looks off in the distance, a hand to her chin. Shelby holds back a bigger smile as he looks off in the opposite direction.

To countless fans across the world, Reba McEntire is a country legend — but to her son, Shelby Blackstock, she’s also mom. While Reba is known for her musical skills on stage, Shelby can be found on the racetrack. That’s because, at 34 years old, he’s a professional race car driver. In fact, according to his Instagram bio, he was the 2020 GTWCA Overall Champion.

Although the two of them are on social media, it’s rare to see Reba post a photo of them together. That’s why folks are absolutely loving the post she made in celebration of his birthday! In it, she reminisces on the day he was born, noting that she feels “a lot better than I did 34 years ago!”

“From the first second I found out I was pregnant, up to today, this child is one of the biggest blessings of my life,” Reba shares. “Thank you, God for letting me experience being a mama.”

Reba McEntire Shares Heartfelt Message to Celebrate Son’s Birthday

Growing up with a superstar mom like Reba must have been tough at times, but she did everything she could to make sure they spent time together. In fact, he’d often accompany her on the road. And if he couldn’t, she’d still find ways to fit in quality time.

“… I would fly home after a concert, get him up in the morning, take him to school and pick him up,” she recalls. “We’d play until I had to fly out again for a concert that night. I wanted to be with Shelby. Still do.”

Now, Shelby has a wife and two kids of his own. They live in Nashville, near Reba and his dad, Narvel Blackstock. We might not see much of them on social media but, rest assured, they couldn’t be closer in their every-day lives.

“I love you, Shelby,” her post continues, “with all my heart mind and soul.”
