Parents are always proud of their kids. That’s just a fact. It doesn’t matter if the parent is a human, a cat, or a golden retriever. When you make a kid, you want the world to know! That was the case with this happy golden retriever as she shows off her baby.
The folks at Wag describe this phenomenon as a trust behavior. When your dog trusts you, they bring you toys and other favorite objects. When they bring you their puppies it is the ultimate level of trust! They also mention that the behavior means the dog is proud and wants to show off her baby. When this golden retriever noticed people approaching her kennel, she gently reached down to grab her baby.
When she displays her baby, she whines to make sure everyone is looking. It’s almost as if she is saying, “Look what I made!”
Once the proud mama is sure everyone has seen her pride and joy, she gently places the pup back in a small box with a blanket.
The entire scene reminds us of the scene in “The Lion King” when Simba is presented to the Prideland. We could almost hear the music… “In the jungle, the mighty jungle…”
Proud parents want to show off their babies. We have seen a cat introducing her baby to a newborn human sister. And now this proud mama is showing visitors her baby. Life is so precious; we should be celebrating it!
