There’s no doubt that Prince William loves soccer. The future king has a particular affinity for Aston Villa. Hecently returned from a trip to Istanbul, where he watched his team bring home a historic win. On May 27, 2026, Prince William visited St. George’s Park to surprise England’s soccer team prior to taking off for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He wished his team well with a sweet, informal address. Prince William said he wanted to “say thank you and good luck to all of you guys, who don’t get as much acknowledgment or credit as you deserve. Not everyone gets to see all the hard work you put in, and the entire success of the players comes from the foundations you built, so thank you.”

Prince William Will Definitely be Watching the World Cup
The England Football Team shared Prince William’s pre-World Cup visit on Instagram, and soccer fans went crazy for the prince.
“A special visit at St. George’s Park as England continue their preparations for the @fifaworldcup,” the post reads. “The team behind the team is working hard to get the #ThreeLions ready for the tournament – on and off the pitch.”

The World Cup begins June 11, 2026 with games scattered throughout 16 host cities in North America. The United States, Canada, and Mexico all look forward to hosting some of the best players in the world. We’ll all be watching.
