“POV: you stumbled upon a penguin cuddle puddle,” Nat Geo Animals wrote in their caption.

As these baby penguins huddled together, heads bowed toward the center, they almost looked like a sports team planning their next maneuver. In reality, the only thing they were plotting in this clip was probably how to keep warm!

We’re all jealous of these baby penguins and their cozy cuddle puddle.

Thousands of viewers on social media have watched this sweet video. A few commenters wished they could join these baby penguins in their cuddle puddle!

“Um where can we join in on this?” asked one user.

Another added, “I really want to know if a human walked up would they let them join or just run away?”

BBC Earth shared a video on YouTube explaining how the huddle method for staying warm works for adult emperor penguins. Apparently, it’s a little more complicated than it looks — especially since some of these gatherings can involve thousands of birds! Since the most intense heat is always at the center of the crowd, these animals have to keep moving around. That way, the penguins on the outside will have a chance to get warm, and those in the middle will be able to take a break from the high temperatures.

While the sweet cuddle puddle in the video above is pretty small in comparison, we’re sure it kept these baby penguins nice and toasty on that cold day!
