One little survivor has become a beacon of home among the wreckage of the Maui wildfires. Exacerbated by winds from Hurricane Dora, brush fires have been burning out of control and devastating homes across the island. Among the affected areas was the seaside town of Lahaina, which has seen explosions as well as towering flames and oppressive smoke, according to NBC News, There, rescuers found a tiny kitten still alive, albeit separated from her family.
After being scooped up from the ashes and rubble, the kitty was affectionately named Phoenix. Her story has been shared via social media in an attempt to find her owners.
“Please help spread the word so we can reunite her,” reads a Facebook post that includes a photo of Phoenix.
