A large, fluffy dog rests on a couch. She sits up, eyes wide, as she stares at the person holding the camera

There was a lot for Mary Frances Emerson’s family to love about their move to a new home. That said, they did have to leave behind a few very special people. For example, Mary no longer lives close to some of her best friends. Sadly, the same is also true for her adorable dog named Bougie. This dog absolutely adores his best friend Maple.

By the time the Emerson family got settled into their new home, Mary had a scary realization. It had been so long since Bougie last heard anyone say Maple’s name… was it possible for her to no longer remember the sweet pup? Their friendship was officially put to the test when Maple came for a visit. Luckily, all it took was Mary saying Maple’s name a single time for Bougie to get excited! “I love how she looks out the window instantly like where??” someone points out in reply to Mary’s viral video. Other commenters add, “This is one of the best examples I’ve seen that dogs understand language” and “I moved 5 years ago and my bff’s dog still gets excited any time she hears my name or my voice over the phone.”

Dogs Bougie and Maple are the Very Best of Friends, and No Amount of Time Apart Can Change That

Naturally, people are asking to see the video of these two besties officially reuniting. Thankfully, Mary was more than happy to oblige… see for yourself!
