As if being on a plane to Hawaii wasn’t exciting enough, a pilot decided to make the flight even more exciting for two very special passengers.
Moments before taking off to Maui, an Alaska Airlines pilot shared a heartfelt speech for his parents, who were on board the aircraft.
“They were there for my first solo flight, for my first airline flight,” said the pilot. “To be able to take them to Maui is just amazing.”
The pilot then decided to specifically address his mom, who four years ago had a serious health issue where the doctors told them they weren’t sure if she was going to make it. But her family never lost hope and promised her they would take her to Maui once she got better. And they did.
“Alaska Airlines kind of pulled us together to have me here to kind of celebrate that journey,” said the pilot.
The special moment ended with a round of applause and a heartwarming hug between the pilot and his parents.
