A group of middle school students moved their teacher beyond belief with their heartfelt surprise. While you don’t always need a reason to do something nice for someone else, these kids had a very important one. That week marked the anniversary that their teacher’s son had passed away only a year ago. So, they worked in secret to prepare a special memorial in his honor.
When teacher Mindy Cook entered the dark gymnasium at the end of the day, the middle school choir was waiting to surprise her with a beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace.” These sweet kids had also spelled out the deceased boy’s name in glowsticks: Winston.
“They did so good at keeping a secret, I had absolutely no idea they were planning this behind my back!” wrote Mindy on TikTok. “I am so blessed to teach such amazing kids, my heart was so full after this!”
After they finished “Amazing Grace,” the middle school choir moved on to “Stand By Me.” Mindy’s students also surprised their teacher with a beautiful memorial collage complete with photos of Winston. Although this mom was still grieving her son, these incredible gestures reminded her of the special bond she had with her second family: her students.
