Olympic Skier Lindsey Vonn Shares Hopeful News from Hospital Bed

Three-time Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn had big dreams for Milano Cortina. Sadly, those dreams ended with a horrific crash. Lindsey was competing in the downhill Olympic race on February 8 when an accident left her with a broken leg. It was a devastating blow for Lindsey as it likely ended her Olympic career. But, instead of wallowing, Lindsey chose to look on the bright side. Lindsey shared some heartfelt words on Instagram along with some photos from her hospital bed. They’re difficult to look at, but her outlook on life is admirable. Lindsey said the accident shaped how she now sees success.

“I had my 3rd surgery today and it was successful. Success today has a completely different meaning than it did a few days ago. I’m making progress and while it is slow, I know I’ll be ok,” she wrote.

Although she’s in a lot of pain and her recovery will be long, Lindsey Vonn remains grateful.

“Thankful for all of the incredible medical staff, friends, family, who have been by my side and the beautiful outpouring of love and support from people around the world. Also, huge congrats to my teammates and all of the Team USA athletes who are out there inspiring me and giving me something to cheer for,” she wrote.

“External fixators are so hot right now… love you so much! Inspiring us all every step of the way,” a comment reads.

“You are the ultimate gangsta Bestie. Sending you love and a TON of admiration,” another person shared.

Fans were so impressed by everyone sharing their love with Lindsey Vonn.

“The amount of athlete respect here in the comments says everything. You’re a real one. Inspiring us to dare to be great,” someone shared.
