The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, West Yorkshire, is an incredible place to visit. Its exhibits span from ancient times to medieval times, the Iron Age, and the present. Visitors will find weapons, armament, and even movie props. Some of the most popular parts of a museum visit are the live shows and daily combat demonstrations. The jousting matches in medieval armor have prompted some questions from people about performing routine movements. The question is answered by one of the knights performing a dance demonstration.

The knight happily danced to the popular “Bye Bye Bye” soundtrack from “Deadpool and Wolverine” by NSYNC. After the dubbed version of the dance was on TikTok, another follower asked how loud the plate armor was. The result is fascinating. The metallic sounds of the medieval armor are not as musical as a wind chime, but it does have a rhythm.
It is impressive to be able to dance at all in medieval armor. The armor plate and chainmail tunics can weigh as much as 35 to 55 pounds. These suits were designed for protection during jousting and sword battles, not for dancing. Kudos to the knight who made us all smile by showing us their styling moves in full armor.
If you visit the Royal Armouries Museum, you may not see a live dance performance, but you can catch a jousting match. Watch as the jousters aim lances at one another while charging forward on horseback.
While the museum and many exhibits are free of charge, some special attractions cost a few pounds. The Crossbow Challenge allows visitors to shoot a crossbow at a target.
