If we know anything about Ellen DeGeneres, it’s that she loves surprises.
While it’s usually the Emmy Award-winning television host herself who’s doing the surprising, every once in a while we get to see her on the receiving end. It’s just as delightful to watch, if not more so when she’s not in the know.
On April 30th, 2018, perennial favorite 1990s boy band *NSYNC had the honor of receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Original band members Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JC Chasez were all in attendance to celebrate their special day.

Later that same day, Justin Timberlake showed up for a guest appearance on the “Ellen Show,” and that’s when the pop superstar decided to make Ellen’s day even brighter!

“I gotta interrupt you,” Justin said in a serious voice. “You were so great at the ceremony, and I had something there for you, I left it at the ceremony, but I brought it here. It’s a surprise.”
Ellen seems taken aback, but then amiably admits that she loves presents. Justin quickly runs backstage and reveals that be brought the band to her show!
When the guys come out, the studio audience goes absolutely bonkers! Who doesn’t love *NSYNC?

These men have aged like a fine wine! They all look incredible, as if no time has passed at all.
Better yet, they seem to genuinely enjoy each other’s company. JC Chasez admits that even all these years later, they still have a pretty active group chat going on. But no, they won’t let any non-band members join, sorry.

The only thing that has changed considerably since the band was touring together is their individual senses of style. Ellen is quick to point out that their past choices were… well, a bit less than awesome. But hey, it was the 90s – we were all wearing that stuff!

“You had a jumpsuit on, didn’t you? It was a onesie,” teased Joey Fatone as Justin just nods and smiles sheepishly. “I did,” he admits.

“You all look like you’re always in winter skiing somewhere,”Ellen commented aptly. We agree – what is UP with all those turtlenecks?
Thankfully, as the decade wore on, their fashion got a little bit better. (But it still wasn’t great.)

Many of the band’s fans were upset that they didn’t reunite during Justin’s 2017 Super Bowl halftime performance but never fear: the band has tentative plans to perform together sometime soon.

The last time they got together was five years ago at the MTV Music Video Awards, and Joey admitted that he was very nervous about his return to the stage. It wasn’t the singing, though, that intimidated him, it was the dancing!

When they found out they’d have to dance, he and Chris Kirkpatrick were not exactly feeling as toned as they did back in the day. “There was a lot of Tylenol,” Chris laughed.

After discussing how thrilled they were to get their star on the Walk of Fame, it was time to bid the band a sad farewell. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing a lot more of them together in the coming months!
