For most drivers, missing a turn is a minor (albeit annoying) inconvenience. But for a woman in DeLand, Florida, who suddenly found herself in a sinking car, it nearly turned deadly.
While the retention pond she’d crashed into wasn’t very deep, her car was filling fast and the front doors wouldn’t open. Try as she might, the 73-year-old couldn’t pull herself out through the back either. Fortunately, Volusia County sheriff’s deputies Nicholas Maletto and Patrick O’Melia came to her rescue — and even saved her purse!
Watch the dramatic rescue unfold in the body cam footage below, and share this story to spread love to these heroes for saving a life.
