Newborn Baby Found Abandoned In Church Nativity Scene, Already People Are Interested In Adopting.

It’s the time of year where different stages are being set for the Christmas holiday. For a newborn baby, a nativity scene might have saved his life.

The baby, so young that his umbilical chord was still attached, was left, abandoned in front of a church in Queens.

Rev. Christopher Heanue of Holy Jesus Church in Richmond Hill recalled that “The baby was found in the creche, a sort of manger scene where we would put the baby Jesus during Christmastime.” It was a custodian that came across the infant around noon. “The church is considered a safe haven for drop-offs. The baby was brand new. He still had the umbilical cord attached. It’s a beautiful baby boy,” explained Heanue. But soon after his discovery, the child was taken to Jamaica Hospital.

It turns out, from a security tape, that a woman had walked up to the decoration with something in her arms, leaving quickly without sight of the “item.”

But the church is embracing the baby with love, warmth and care. “There are families within the parish who have inquired as to adopting the baby already,” said the Reverend. “They feel that he was left in the parish and should stay in the parish.”

Here’s the Takeaway: Some people, like this woman, are in desperate need of help. To prevent things like this from happening, make sure to lean in: lean into people’s lives so that you know what is going on and can embrace them with your love and help.
