Mia is a pretty chilled-out little black cat with a white belly. She doesn’t quite qualify as a tuxedo cat, so perhaps she is just a defective black cat? While she does all the typical cat things, Mia has a few “odd” behaviors that are beyond adorable. Her favorite cat toy is a small stuffed octopus made by Kong. She has several, and they are her babies, and she carries them everywhere.

The name Mia has Italian roots. It means “beloved” or “my.” Some say it is an excellent name for a cat that enhances one’s life. With that thought in mind, Mia fits the bill most perfectly. She is a loving, caring cat who wants to share her babies with her human family. She brings her cat toys into the bedroom each morning to greet Mom as she rises. Laying the babies side-by-side brings out Mia’s mothering instincts.

Mia is a dedicated mommy to her tiny pretend babies. She dutifully allows them plenty of time for nursing, and sometimes, she naps while fulfilling her motherly duties.

Although there could be several reasons Mia is exhibiting this behavior, we’re not going to psychoanalyze her. Many cats act similarly, so it is not a behavior pattern specific to Mia. The most likely cause is that, at some point, she either had a false pregnancy or a stillbirth litter. The mothering instinct is natural and normal for most animals. There is no harm in indulging Mia’s obsession with her cat toy babies.
You can see from the wear-and-tear on Mia’s “babies” that she loves them immensely.
