Man’s 24-Year Journey From Plane Cleaner To Captain Is Inspiring People Everywhere.

Think back to your first job out of high school. Many of us did simple tasks to earn cash for college, but not everyone follows the same path.

Mohammed Abubakar of Nigeria took his first job after high school as a way to pass time. He’d missed the admission deadline for the college he wanted to attend, and he needed to do something. What he didn’t know was that 24 years later, that moment would mark the beginning of his dream come true.

Mohammed got to work cleaning airplanes for Kabo Air for the equivalent of 50 cents a day, but he didn’t stay there long! After impressing his supervisors, he was quickly promoted to ground staff and eventually participated in every department aside from security.

Because he had to survive off so little at first, Mohammed learned to save and continued to do so despite his increasing salary. After several years and promotions, he went to his managing director to discuss getting his pilot’s license with the money he’d saved. With his boss’ support, he got his private license – then his company sponsored him so he could pursue a commercial one!

Two years after receiving his commercial license, Mohammed became a pilot for Azman Air. Unsurprisingly, he continued to work hard and persevere, and now he’s earned the title of captain!

The missed opportunity that led Mohammed into aviation turned out to be the best twist of fate he could have asked for! And his determination ever since has allowed him to chase – and achieve – a dream he might never have considered otherwise. It just goes to show that there is no “right” path in life!
