It’s not easy being the child of a parent in the military. Their service can take them to far away places and they can often be gone for months on end.
Sometimes the parent is lucky enough to come home early. When these unexpected blessings happen, sometimes the beautiful moment is captured on video.
And for one lucky 11-year-old, that’s exactly what happened.

As YouTube user Artzy Ep shared, their step-father had been deployed overseas for a year. The step-father and brother decided to surprise the YouTuber’s little sister at school. And not just at school, in the middle of her lunch period.
The group came bearing balloons, flowers, and (of course) they recorded every second. At first, they weren’t sure they were in the right place.

The tearful 5th grader streaked over and embraced her father.

It is so apparent that their relationship has transcended stepdad and step-daughter. She is so overcome with joy that she doesn’t seem to notice the flowers or balloons. The most precious gift of all was being reunited with her dad.
