In 1967, The Monkees gave us I’m a Believer, which became one of the band’s biggest hits. It went all the way to number one for the Monkees, and more than 30 years later, the song hit the charts a second time. In 2001, the band Smash Mouth remade the song for the DreamWorks animated classic Shrek. Though the two bands never worked together, they recently had a chance encounter. Smash Mouth guitarist Sean Hurwitz and drummer Randy Cooke ran into the sole surviving Monkees singer, Mickey Dolenz, and posted a photo on Instagram.
