Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been friends for most of their lives. The pair became best friends as kids and carried that friendship over into adulthood. Now, in their 50s, Ben and Matt may not be the same fresh-faced hunks we fell in love with in Good Will Hunting, but let’s just say they’ve aged like a fine wine. The boys recently popped up at the Netflix Tudum event in Los Angeles, and Matt looked totally different. He was sporting a full beard that turned plenty of heads.

Ben Affleck Teased Matt Damon About His Beard
Ben Affleck has appeared disheveled a time or two, but that evening, he appeared more clean-cut than Matt Damon. The text on the Netflix photo reads, “I thought Matt would shave his beard before Tudum, but here we are.”
Some fans loved the natural look.
“Matt Damon’s rocking that rugged beard these days—feels like he’s gearing up for another Bourne mission,” one wrote.
“Affleck throws shade fast— Matt kept the beard, won the laugh. Boston bromance lives,” another agreed.
Others felt like the beard was not a great look.
“Affleck looks like he’s hosting. Damon looks like he’s surviving,” someone wrote.
This person thought the same thing. “Ben is aging like fine wine. Yall check on Damon.”
No matter what, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon love each other, beards or no beards.
“It’s a beautiful thing,” Ben said of his friendship with Matt. “You know, I don’t have very many. None of us really have very many friends. You don’t need a million friends; you need a few; you need good ones.”
“I’m really lucky to have had a friend in Matt,” he added.
Matt Damon shares a similar affinity for Ben Affleck. He told Entertainment Tonight in 2016, “I’ve known him for 35 years, and we grew up together,” he said. “We were both in love with the same thing – acting and filmmaking. I think we fed on each other’s obsession during really formative, important years, and that bonded us for life.”
