Mateo Manousakis is a fixture at professional soccer games within South Africa’s Premier Soccer League. He’s the son of coach Vasili Manousakis, and he has become a fan and player favorite thanks to his limitless energy and cheerful spirit. While his dad works with the athletes at Cape Town City Football Club, Mateo often warms up the crowds with pregame chants and funky dance moves.
Vasili wasn’t expecting his son to become such a character at the stadium, but he loves his enthusiasm.
“I didn’t expect it at all,” Vasili said. “I think, here at City, it’s just the amazing team spirit that took him in; he has the love and respect from the players, he can feel it, it’s real, and they always want to see him.”
