Anyone walking through Washington Square Park on a random Wednesday in the middle of January received a pleasant surprise – Bill Murray putting on an impromptu performance!
The comedian and actor sang his heart out with a number of songs. He even pirouetted during his rendition of “I Feel Pretty,” and he invited the crowd to join in singing “It Ain’t Necessarily So.” Cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang, and pianist Vanessa Perez accompanied his joyful singing, adding to the delight of the whole recital.

Murray didn’t just sing, either. He recited a poem by beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who mentioned the very park Murray was standing in in his masterpiece!
Fittingly, Murray departed in chaos, announcing, “The cops say we have to turn off the microphones. Let’s rip this place apart!”
Watch a recap of his performance in the video below, and don’t forget to share this story.
