Future Rodeo Queen Takes Over Interview After Becoming “Mutton Bustin” Champion.

If her performance at Tuesday night’s Mutton Bustin’ competition is any indication, it’s just a matter of time before this up-start cowgirl is lassoing bad guys around the world.

The annual Houston Livestock and Rodeo runs through March 18, and on its very first night, six-year-old Marlie McDonald won the first round of Mutton Bustin. But she also won hundreds of thousands of hearts during an adorable post-win interview about her 90-point ride, which has set viewers’ hearts soaring ever since.

Bursting with confidence, she told her interviewer her winning strategy: “I did what my parents told me, I just hold on really tight until I can not get a grip,”she said.

Asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she said she wants to be a spy so she can “fight for the world, the bad guys, where you get to fight them.â€

Marlie’s win is especially significant in light of a life-threatening battle she fought in the fall of 2011, which most viewers probably don’t know about.

In her mother’s 34th week of pregnancy, an ultrasound revealed a golf ball-sized brain tumor, which doctors successfully removed just days after Marlie was born.
