One Reddit user shared a heartwarming photo of the special gift that makes him feel closer to his grandfather, who passed away. He explained that, when he was born, his grandpa had handcrafted a wooden rocking horse just for him. Included with the present was a beautiful letter for the newborn to read when he was older.
“Now that I’m older with a daughter of my own, it’s something I come back to and read when I think of him,” read the caption.
In a comment, the original poster shared a few additional words in his grandfather’s memory.
“My grandpa was quite the guy,” he wrote. “He was a career marine, looked intimidating, always stayed in great shape, just kind of a man’s man. But, if you ever got to know him you’d learn he was a big softy.”
