In this day and age, when everyone is connected so easily through their phones and computers, it’s easy to forget the importance of neighbors. This man reminded his community of the power of kindness when he saved his neighbors from a burning building.
In Thornton, Colorado, on November 29th, this man’s apartment complex grew engulfed in flames.
This man is Phil Taylor. It was his balcony that was suddenly aflame in the middle of the night. Because it was outside, the fire alarms weren’t triggered, so he knew he needed to jump into action.
Phil acknowledged the danger of his actions but stated that his instincts took control. He knew he needed to get the apartment complex residents to safety. The man jumped into action to save his neighbors.
Ultimately, no one was hurt in the flames due to Phil’s powerful act of community.
His kids and wife covered some of the floors, while he covered others, banging on the doors and clearing everyone out. This man and his family saved his neighbors at the cost of all of their belongings.
Phil’s family, along with two other resident families, lost everything in the fire. After the fire, the Taylor family had just the clothes on their back.
Thankfully, Phil’s employer provided the Taylors with a $10,000 check to help rebuild after this tragedy.
This man’s bravery kept many of his neighbors safe and sound. It was an inspirational act of community.
