Home renovations rarely go according to plan. This is especially true once you start tearing down walls — you never know what you’ll find! That said, not every unexpected discovery is a bad one. This is something Tim King has learned from his experience as the owner of TKING Construction Services. But his most interesting find took place close to home… quite literally!

A little after Christmas, Tim found himself in his childhood home. His parents wanted to remodel their bathroom, and he was more than happy to help. The remodel was small, but it still involved uncovering drywall. It was during this process that something festive caught his eye… it was a decades-old wrapped Christmas present!
“Before we closed up the drywall on the wall, I was like, ‘I should probably look and see that there is nothing back there,’ and sure enough, there was a present,” Tim recalls. “So when I pulled that out, it was super old wrapping paper, and then I was like, ‘Oh crap, that has my name on it.'”
Man Discovers 47-Year-Old Christmas Present Lost in the Walls of His Childhood Home
Although Tim’s mom has no memory of the gift, they believe it was intended for Tim in 1978. This gift, along with the rest from that year, would have been hidden away in the attic until Christmas. But this lone present must have fallen between the walls, left to be forgotten. Now, without further ado, let’s see what that gift is, shall we?
After all these years, Tim’s mom finally got to watch him unwrap the gift she got him all those years ago. And what a great gift it was for the then 6-year-old little boy: a set of Matchbox Thunder Jets. Sure, he’s a bit older now, but it’s still an awesome toy nonetheless!
“I would have been six,” Tim says, “so that is pretty awesome.”
