John Wright is a sweet 80-year-old who has a very strange tradition. Any time he hears of a garage sale, he goes looking for one very specific item: wedding gowns.

If he’s able to find one that’s suitable, John takes the dresses back to his wife Diane, who then cuts them into pieces. That may seem like an extremely aggressive and negative act, but with those pieces Diane does something incredible. By sewing back together the lace, Mrs. Wright makes “angel gowns” for babies who were never born.
Diane herself had a miscarriage, so she says she can understand that sort of loss. With those tiny dresses, John and Diane give grieving parents the chance to see their children rest in piece in a beautiful gown – an image that they can hold on to forever.
This incredible gesture makes you think… with our misfortunes and heartbreak, we can do something good.
