Parny’s grandson, Jackson “Jake” Bobo, plays wide receiver for the Seahawks. Surrey’s grandson, Ashton Grant, is the quarterbacks coach for the New England Patriots.

The Super Bowl Match-Up Shocked the Grandmothers

Parny and Surrey never thought their grandsons would be at the Super Bowl together, but these grandmothers were wrong.

“Rooting for one team or the other, we thought there was no way we would both make it, and lo and behold, here we are,” Parny told WGME.

Parny said she and Surrey have been friends for more than a decade, and their grandsons’ careers definitely brought them closer.

“They both made it to the NFL in different ways, and we followed it for five years. We followed each other and laughed about it,” she said.

Parny added that no matter the Super Bowl outcome, these grandmothers will remain friends.

“Whoever wins, it’s been a ride for both teams and certainly for both grandmothers,” she said.

“Everybody appreciates it for what it is, which is friendship and a little bit of competitiveness,” Parny added.

We live in a world with billions of people, yet it truly is so small. We can’t imagine how excited Parny and Surrey are today. What an accomplishment for both families.
