In late January, major snow and ice storms swept across the United States, leaving much of the country blanketed in white. While the snow and ice look beautiful from the comfort of our homes, they can cause all kinds of problems outside. Shoveling ice and snow can be a challenge for many people, and others look at it as an opportunity. Helaina Hayduk, a 10-year-old from Pennsylvania, decided to shovel snow to earn money so she could purchase her brother a birthday present, People reported.

“She is such a light,” Helaina’s mom, Lenora Hayduk, told People. “I’m just so proud of her.”
Helaina Hayduk Knew She Could Raise the Money with Hard Work
Helaina Hayduk lives with her mom, Lenora, her dad, Shawn, and her brothers, Lucas, 16, and 12-year-old Grayson. Shawn works as a mail carrier and offered his children a chance to help him shovel snow and make some extra cash.
“I wanted to do it, but my dad was saying splitting it three ways wouldn’t be as good profit,” Helaina told People. “I got the upside to everything.”
Helaina loves to give to others.
“I love giving. And I’ll take any mail that I can get to get a gift for someone, I just really like giving people that extra feeling that you’re just like, oh, this feels really nice. You went out in all this cold just to get me a gift,” Helaina told WGAL.
Shawn told the news station he’s very proud of his daughter and all of her hard work.
“Super cool. Her love language is gift giving, so she absolutely enjoys doing it and buying gifts for people. And she’ll go the extra mile just to, you know, make that happen,” he said.
Helaina Hayduk is one special kid. Her parents and brothers must be so proud.
